Qualifications

At least a Bachelor's degree in elementary education, child development, English, science, math, social studies, physical education or art.

Teaching certification is preferred a long with 1-2 years of experience.

Interested candidates must be hard-working individuals dedicated to promoting the Islamic values and mission of the school; they should respect cultural diversity and believe in team-work

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Fatwa: Zakat

The following Question was asked to Dr. Salah Soltan (Ph.D. in Figh, President of Islamic American University, Professor at Dar Ul-Ulume, Cairo University)

ISRI: "Can ZAKAT money be paid to establish an Islamic School in America?"

Dr. Soltan: "It is mubah (permissible) to give Zakat for Islamic Education to protect our children from fitna (trail). It is our duty to establish in every city an Islamic School i.e. Islamic Education. At the conference of Ulmema in Makkah Mukaramah they said it is permissible to give some of Zakat to Islamic Schools. I asked many scholars at the Europe Figh Council and they agree as well"

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa baraktu

Dear Parents, Teachers and Community Members

The Islamic School of Rhode Island opened its doors for the fifth consecutive year to more than 100 students. Truly Allah swt has blessed all Muslims in Rhode Island by allowing the school to reach this size in the most blessed month, the month when the Quran was revealed.

Insha'Allah we will soon complete the purchase of the school. So come and join the Ramadan Fundraiser at the School on Saturday September 13th at 5:30 pm, and hear Sheikh Abdul Hakim give a speech. Come and be inspired in this work for the sake of Allah subhana wa ta'alah, and be generous for the sake of Allah (swt).
