Meet the Board of Trustees

President: Amjad Kinjawi
An active member of the Muslim community since settling in New England in 1993. President of the Muslim Society of Rhode Island and Masjid Al-Rahman, 2003. Member of the Rhode Island Council for Muslim Advancements (RICMA) , Founding member of New England Chapter of Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA),Associate and teacher at Amherst N.H.(Ameri Dent Dental), Owner of Elite Dental Care.

Secretary: Hilmy Bakri
Joined the board in the summer of 2007 and is active in the board of Masjid Al-Kareem. Br. Hilmy was previously involved in RICMA, but since the flooding of March 2010 dedicated most of his time and energy to improving ISRI. Br. Hilmy’s background is in finance. One of his goals is to ensure that ISRI becomes the model Islamic knowledge and Academic excellence for Islamic schools to learn and follow.“Never take anything for granted, that mindset may lead to complacency. If you want something to move … put your back into it and push. Effort is required to ensure the success of any endeavor

Treasurer: Dr. Siddiq Chaudhry
Worked for the Government of Pakistan for over 15 years in teaching and administrative positions. Associate Professor of Agriculture Engineering and Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture, Libia. Presently he is an accountant at the Rhode Island Hospital, Lifespan Corporation. Dr. Chaudhry has been a board Member of the Islamic Center of Rhode Island (Masjid Al-Karim) for over 10 years.

Public Relations: Munawar Ghumman
Was born and raised in Pakistan, received an associates degree in electronic engineering. He has been an ISRI parents since day one in 2004. "We are blessed to have an Islamic School right in our own neighborhood, and we have an opportunity to give our children the best Islamic education. It is our duty as parents and Muslims to provide our children with Islamic education, Alhumduilah. I encourage the Muslim community to give ISRI an opportunity to provide your children with Islamic and secular education. Two of his sons has graduated (2010) and moved on to LaSalle Academy , a prestigious high school with high honors. Two of his children are attending ISRI today.

Public Relations: Sterk Zaza
Sterk is one of our pioneer staff members. She was apart of the Administrative team until 2009. She has filled many roles at ISRI and has given her heart and soul to the school. She is also a parent of two ISRI students. One graduated and moved onto the Lincoln School for Girls, a prestigious high school with full scholarship. Her youngest is among the pioneers students and still attends today. Sterk joined the ISRI BOT in 2009 to continue her support and dedication to the students, parents and community.

Treasure II: Shahzad Yaqoob
Br. Shahzad is a proud ISRI parent and a loyal ISRI supporter for six years, since 2004. A Graduate of the University of Karachi Pakistan, wielding a Master’s Degree in Economics and an Associate’s Degree in Electronic Engineering, and father of two ISRI Graduates (Class of ’10 and ’11) as well as two ISRI students within the elementary school. " I am very thankful to Allah to have found ISRI, the new Islamic School that had just opened up, would serve as the drinking ladle of knowledge for not only my children, but also for the many other young Muslims that would grow up to lead the thriving Muslim Ummah of the future Inshallah."O Allah (SWT) Help ISRI Prosper, and thrive to become the best Educational/Religious foundation that it can become. "Ameen!!!

Member : Tarik Barakad
Joined the board in early 2011, Br. Tarik holds a Bachelor degree in Finance and Master degree in International Business. Tarik is a proud father of two children.
Tarik’s continued passion and dedication for the Islamic School has motivated him to become involved in the board of trustees. Tarik's goals and dreams, like many parents, are to see our children reach to successful heights, and to build professional leaders with strong Islamic values.
